When God Presses Pause…

It’s been quiet lately.
Not in our hearts. God has been speaking loud and clear, but in the way things look on the outside.

We’ve been praying, planning, building, and preparing for this mission to Scotland. We’ve stepped out in obedience. But lately, it feels like God has pressed pause.

Our days are still full. We spend time in daily devotionals together, working behind the scenes, refining the brand, and managing the details. Yet it’s hard not to notice that the momentum we hoped for hasn’t arrived just yet.

We’ve had a few donations here and there, a couple of sales on the website, and some encouragement from friends and mentors. But truthfully, the response hasn’t been what we imagined.

And if I’m being honest, that’s been discouraging.

Because when you know that God has called you to something, you expect the world to rally around it. You expect excitement, support, and belief. Instead, sometimes what you get is silence or even criticism.

Someone recently accused us of just wanting a “vacation” in Scotland. But this calling is anything but that.

It’s not about escape. It’s about surrender.

My wife and I have prayed for months. We’ve worked. We’ve saved. We’ve said yes to God’s plan, even when the cost has meant spending more than we’ve received, trusting that He will meet the need when the time is right.

I don’t share this for sympathy. I share it because I know others are walking through similar seasons. Times when you’re certain God spoke, but the fruit hasn’t appeared yet.

And yet, I still believe. Looking back over this past year, there have been too many moments, too many turns, that could only be the hand of God at work.

I still believe that when the time is right, God will open every door that needs to open.
I still believe that His plans are better than ours.
And I still believe that obedience matters, even when no one else understands it.

So we’ll keep preparing as we continue to wait.
We’ll keep praying when we feel discouraged.
We’ll keep believing that God’s timing is perfect and that even in the pause, He’s working things together for good.

Maybe that’s the whole point of this season.
Maybe this is where He’s teaching us to trust Him most.

Trusting in the pause,
Calen
