A New Chapter With the Same Calling

We are the Bullards, a Texas-born, faith-driven family answering God’s call to Dumbarton, Scotland. Our heart is still the same: to serve the local church and surrounding community through discipleship, outreach, and hospitality.

Our timeline has shifted. Our goal is to be in Scotland serving sometime in August 2026 at the earliest, and even that remains dependent on multiple factors, both global and domestic. We are committed to moving forward wisely and prayerfully, and we will not pursue anything that is not safe or good for our family.

As part of this new season, we have also made an important change: we are no longer accepting donations. Instead, we are choosing to fully self-fund what comes next.

This website is now focused on something simple and personal: keeping our supporters, family, and friends connected to our journey. It is a place to see what we are doing while we prepare, and what we are doing while we serve.

You will find updates, photos, stories, and prayer requests as we walk this out step by step.

Thistles & Thorns Holdings LLC

Thistles & Thorns Holdings LLC is the backbone that supports two practical pieces of our work:

  • Our online store, offering faith-inspired apparel and goods.

  • Calen’s leadership/coaching business, providing leadership development instruction and executive coaching.

The LLC exists to keep these operations organized and sustainable while we prepare for what is ahead.

Thistles & Thorns Foundation

Thistles & Thorns Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) created to support mission-aligned ministry initiatives with transparency and accountability. The Foundation remains active, but we are not accepting donations. Our giving model is simple: we self-fund, and where appropriate, profits from the online store may be directed toward Foundation-supported ministry work.

We are Calen and Candice, proud parents of two incredible children, and this is truly a family mission. We are building steadily, growing personally, serving locally, and preparing faithfully for what God has next.

Thank you for being here and for walking with us.

With gratitude and grace,
The Bullards
